sorority comments

The big six idea didn't come from the article. It's the fact that those sororities have been the strongest and best at Texas for a century now. They are all also extremely strong groups nationally. The number of members has nothing to do with it. The lower tier sororities have to give out more bids as quota additions because they are allowed to invite more girls to preference parties due to their lower return rates. The big six are much more selective. The only people who are obsessed with the big six are the girls in the lower sororities. You weren't big six material. You found your home in another sorority. There's nothing wrong with that. So quit hating.

to the person below. They are totally correct. Pi Phi, Kappa, Theta, Chi-O, Zeta and Tri-Delt are the most selective and hardest to get in to. And its been that way since sororities were first established at UT. Plus, thoes are probably the 6 best sororities nationally.
#497by: Any opinions?
Im rushing as a junior this fall my sister and aunt were both zetas and im friends with girls from a few of the houses and was wondering what my chances are? My gpa is kind of low but im majoring in engineering... All my high school test scores and rank are really high and im involved in a lot of clubs and organizations.

As we enter recruitment season, please remember that this is not a good time to put down any sorority. There is a place for every girl and we do them a disservice when we rank houses and talk about the "lower tier." This encourages girls who are ashamed that they didn't get invited back to "top tier" houses to drop out of rush for fear of being ostracized as a pledge. All our houses are good. Try to promote greek panhellenism during recruitment. Encourage every PNM to complete recruitment and find a greek home.
