SRD vs Hardin....I know girls from camp(Waldemar) but I am from a small town so no PKT girls here....not many sorority girls at Texas period. Should I do SRD or Hardin? I was planning Hardin bc my mom was a Pi Phi and said that is where I should live, but doesn't sound like my zip code will allow me into any of "top" sororities...

SRD all the way. SRD has a lot more diversity with girls in different sororities. When I went to look at Hardin there was no comparison...I thought SRD was way nicer. SRD also has some girls that don't rush so you get a good mix

Obviously you love SRD, and it is gorgous....however, my mom would love for me to do Hardin and PI PHi. If I could pledge PKT, sounds like most of my pledge sisters will be at Hardin. Is there a realistic chance that legacy and Waldemar thing will get me in Pi Phi...or any sorority, I guess? Afraid as a small town girl, I maybe shouldn't even rush...everyone I know from camp is planning to rush and live in Hardin though. If I can't pledge PKT, sounds like I probably would be happier at SRD. Are there many non-sorority girls in SRD?

I lived at Hardin. It was mostly Pi Phi, Theta, Kappa, and XO. TriDelts, AXOs, DGs, and Zetas lived there, but mostly the first 4 groups mentioned. Not to worry though, as Hardin itself is like one big sorority. I'm a Theta, and I made life-time friends w/everyone. I have my sorority friends, and friends from Hardin. My older sister was a resident at SRD (also Theta), and she loved it. You'll do great at either place. (but don't wait to long to apply).Good Luck.

Thank you all for the information. I have to say that your nice, helpful comments are so appreciated! They make Greek life look so much more appealing than most of the comments posted! My mom was not a Pi Phi at Texas, so I won't have that helping me....with Pi Phi at least. Not sure what older girls from Waldemar pledged, but I am sure they pledged something so I will probably know a few girls in some sororities, right? Guess I will ask around to see who is in what sorority. I really haven't paid much attention. Is there one that more Waldemar girls seem to pledge? However, I think it sounds like either dorm would be great. SRD appears "nicer", but I like the small size of Hardin. Guess I will toss a coin. :) Thank you again.

Don't worry. You sound like a nice girl who will do well in rush. Go visit both Hardin and SRD and then choose. Start trying to get in touch with girls who are currently at UT in sororities that you know. It will help a lot. Most of the Waldemar girls are at Hardin and will go PKT.

Just be yourself and everything will work out. Chi-O and Zeta are both top six sororities who love small town girls like yourself. UT has a great greek system. Don't feel like you have to be PKT.

I don't think you should go into rush so close minded. While I have nothing bad to say about them, you don't really know any of them? That's the point of rush, to go in and make a decision based off of where you think you fit in best and get along with. Both of my good friends were set on getting in a certain sorority, but once they met everyone decided to go with another. So I don't think you should close your mind this early.
