As a guy, I can promise you that every sorority does not mix with every fraternity and if they do, the amount of money and emphasis placed on the big 6 mixers are much greater. Just being honest

stop the bashing. The majority of chapters at UT are strong. They all offer different things to different ladies. Some stress sky high grades, some stress social life, some their charities, the balance is different at each house. Some recruit cheerleaders, some recruit dancers, some recruit girls in honors programs. Most houses mix with most frats and there are exceptions to every house/frat, but they are EXCEPTIONS. Day in and day out greek life at UT is peaceful and most greeks have friends in almost every house. This site makes it seem like we all live segregated little lives and that is not true. We support each other in our fundraisers and we wear our letters to show our individual spirit but the majority of us don't lose sight of our panhellenic goals.

Many of my friends have gone to Camp Mystic. I am aware of Mystic, Waldemar, and others like them. I know they are helpful connections for Rush. I wonder if Pine Cove or TBarM are helpful connections. I have attended a week at each of those camps for five years.

those camps really that important? I'm not interested in the "big 6." The camps I went to are leadership camps.

To the person below me...I wasn't trying to make it sound like I think I am important because I went to those camps. Just asking if they helped. I don't know much but I would certainly HOPE any leadership camps would be helpful too. Good luck with your rush! I am so excited about it and I wish you and all the other PNMs the best. Can't wait to be a UT Greek....hopefully!

i didn't mean it that way--I know those camps are important to the big 6. However, I want a more diverse group so I'm NOT looking at those groups. My question is for the other groups--are other types of leadership camps helpful to get into those groups?

The camps are not important just because you went to camp. They are important because bonds are formed year after year between girls who become ABCs so when the girls that were younger campers come through rush, they know people. Leadership camps are important because they are good resume builders but I suspect you don't make those friendship based connections there like you do at Camp Mystic, Longhorn Waldemar, etc. But just because you didn't go to these camps does not mean you will not have great choices at recruitment. They are simple a piece to the "who are you" puzzle

I'm from out of state so obviously didn't go to those camps. Sounds like big 6 are mainly in-state girls which is great--but i'm looking for something different.

Most all houses are "in-state" just because UT is mostly in state people to begin with. I bet all houses across the board have similar percentages of "in" v. "out" of state girls. There is not a house specifically for "out of state girls"
