And this is the article that that Big 6 refer back to after 40 some years later. It's absolutely hilarious and embarrassing that anyone would put their whole reputation and rank on a social column written in the disfunctional 1970's!! Wake up call Big 6!! Move on from the past and join the year 2012!!

That 70?s article is over 40 years old. Plus, it basically makes fun of any sorority it mentions, except for anything really too bad about Kappa or Pi Phi. (The writer was a Kappa). Things like:
PAGE 104-How the TriDelts? singing voice during rush sent shivers down her spine, lol.
PAGE 110- Zetas have to try harder. Does a Zeta shun heavy makeup, etc. does she look like a Pi Phi? She does not. Bless her heart for trying?she never will.
PAGE 118- ?I didn?t even know she was an A-Chi-O ya?ll? ?.hoping it?s o.k.
PAGE 110- a) In the status game, Chi Omega?s parking lot will show you they are not among the top contenders. b) The ADPi?s (of all people) are 2nd behind PiPhi for GPA
PAGE 108- Theta isn?t like being a Pi Phi or Kappa, and that?s the problem. Theta ISN?T a Pi Phi or Kappa.
THROUGHOUT?Plus the article constantly insinuates Phi Delt is the best fraternity that girls want to date, which in this day and age, is a joke. Phi Who? Alot has changed.
#1146by: @ Yes it has
Uh no it hasn't. Zeta and Chi O are still wanna be PKT girls from the Dallas/Houston suburbs. They might be wealthier now then back then, but they are still Noveau Riche to the core. Theta is still a sorority for girls who still weren't genteel enough for Pi Phi/Kappa mold. The faces on the sorority composites may have changed, but the cultures and reputations of the Big Six have not, and won't for many many years. Phi Delt might not be around, but I bet the neighborhoods/schools that were Phi Delt feeders 30 years ago are the same that provide Fiji/SAE/Sig Ep with their members. Girls from HP/Hockaday/Ursuline/ESD/Kinkaid/St. Johns/EHS/Alamo Heights/the Hall will always go PKT. Nothing ever really changes.
#1147by: @ no it hasnt
You don't realize that while the schools they come from might not change people don't care about those schools that didn't come from there! Y'all at the ones saying you're the best! NOT anyone else! Toot your own horn because NO ONE else gives a crap about what stupid high school you went to and Please leave Austin ASAP youre really not liked here at all! Austin is THE coolest city in Texas and typically loathed Dallas and Houston mentalities ! Go back soon!
#1149by: People!!
People come on. The Big Six may exist because of that article, but the wealth gap at UT is closing because of the top 10% rule. The girls that traditionally flooded from Highland Park, etc, aren't making the cut at UT and Daddy's money can't always buy admission. So some houses find themselves fishing in other ponds, but the legacies they take are taken because of legacy status or family money and looks take a back seat. This is really damaging the overall dynamic of some of the top houses. The girls that do come into the houses this way are generally unpleasant and completely stuck up that they are not even a small pleasure to be with. Some big 6 house deserve their reputation, but Pi Phi, Theta and Kappa are resting on a history that can't hold them up. They need to recruit a better class this year and stop filling their houses with shallow, blah girls.

Actually UT fought the Top 10% rule and I know for a fact last year they took only Top 8%! Guess then they could take their WEALTH also!! You meet to many Highland Park, etc., at UT and you know that they ALL couldn't of been within the top 8% of their class!! So honestly, these girls need a place to fit! What better then the so-called 1970's BIG 3 sororities! Bought and paid by GRANDPA!
