sorority comments

#1051by: Benefits
The benefits of getting involved in a sorority can be particularly significant at a big school since it's an easier way to make friends within a smaller community. When it comes time to select a major or if you have questions about college life, you have a built-in resource of older girls you can go to for advice or mentoring. Sororities are known to have a thriving social scene and many are focused on philanthropic events, so it's a great opportunity to meet others with like-minded interests, not to mention your social calendar will always be full!
#1052by: Drawbacks
The drawbacks of joining a sorority are that it can be a huge time and money commitment, so if you are considering Greek life as part of your college experience be sure to ask each house what they anticipate the expenses will be beyond dues (the amount of money you pay to be a part of the sorority) so that you know what you're getting into before you join
#1053by: Choosing
Choosing a sorority is all about the right fit. No sorority is right for every female student, because the university is after all about diversity. Any one pledge with find the handful of sororities where she 'feels' the fit. Trust the system, and it will work out for you unless you become single-minded.
#1054by: Out of State
It is very hard to get into a sorority here, but that is just because so many girls want in. Some out of state girls do get in, but they usually have some connection. Honestly, it is hard for ANYONE (not just out of state girls) who doesn't have someone pulling for them or a connection somehow. Just the way it is in a very competative Greek system. There are other organizations though if you couldn't get in. Also, make some friends and rush again as a junior if you really care.
#1055by: All Houses
Every single house has lovely young women in it. This rating system is ridiculous. The women in the house you rate as LOW may some day be your architect, attorney or deliver your child. Such demeaning comments are so childish, yet hurtful...Think before you judge and write harsh comments about other sororities.

Pi Phi- The best by tradition. Girls are not picked based on personality or achievements but by where they are from and who they know. Most are very good looking. Love to party--but only with wealthy fraternities. Are in a world of their own.
Theta- for the girls that either can't get into pi phi or are more chill than pi phi and don't want to be pi phi. Known for having CRAZY girls that drink a lot. cool girls though.
Kappa- for that overachiever from high school. Girls went to good high school but were not picked soley for that. They are well rounded and high achieving. However, because they are so high strung...can have a stick of their you know what. Quality ladies though.
#1060by: Right, but
Well, don't necessarily associate bad GPA ranking with Kappa, as they made it to # 5 last time. Unfortunately, you're correct about Theta's & Pi Phi's consistent low GPA listing. But I do agree also with everything else you said. They need to learn how to be comfortable outside of grade-school and high-school friends.
