Is it possible for a junior to get into at least a mid tier fraternity with out connections?

Probably not. Hell, even with some connections to an alright chapter, you probably won't get bid as a junior. If you're dead set on joining a fraternity, look to the lower tier. I think some of them might take juniors.

You would need to try for something like TKE or Theta Chi, but probably they'd take you. I'm sure they'd welcome a Junior. They would be helping you, and you would be helping them.

and a while mids might take a junior, especially if they're going to do a victory lap, but they usually have to really stand out.
