is joining a sorority worth it?

by: 2018

do most members stay active all four years? because I've heard it's basically important freshman year and then no one cares anymore

No. It's not important at all. Go away. Bye.

There are probably other clubs at UT that are more non-committal and that would suit you better.

It all comes down to the friends you make in your pledge class... Girls who don't get super close to their PC tend to be less involved as the years go on, but their are so many girls that stay involved all four years. Go through rush, and see where and with who you end up. you might meet some lifelong friends

One more thing: I didn't rush as a freshman and I ended up regretting it. Rush now, and the choice is yours to make, otherwise you'll have to wait a year to change your mind

If you're only in in for what it's worth to you, please don't rush. We don't need selfish girls like you.

Where in the world did you get selfish from? That is a huge leap out of nowhere. Honestly, pledge year is the most fun and exciting because it is all new. A sorority is a lot of work, especially if you are taking hard classes, have to keep grades up for scholarships, involved in other organizations, etc. But it is so worth it if you choose the right house. Life-long friends are to be made if you go through recruitment with an open mind. Good luck.

Please tell her which house you're in so she will know where she's welcome even though she will quit as soon as she decides it isn't worth it to her.
