How does a one rush a top tier fraternity if you don't know many members and you're not from a feeder school (HP, Memorial, Austin High, Alamo Heights, etc)

I came out of Fort Worth, it wasn't a problem, in fact that year there were four in our pledge class from FW, two of us from Paschal, two of us from Country Day. At that time KA usually picked up the FW guys, but for some reason that year we all enjoyed rushing with SAE, you never knew if you'd make it home alive when the rush captains brought you out; they did a great job. Above us there were another 4 total guys form FW, one from Paschal, and the other three from Country Day. I turned down my bids form both Fiji and KA, because the SAE house was just much more fun and well thought of, plus we all wanted the challenge of the ridiculous pledgeship, and we all wanted that challenge. We even at that time had a few OOS guys too. It's possible, unless they've begun to pigeon hole themselves again, which is the wrong direction to move in. Because each year after leading up to our senior year, we were able to grab at least 4 FW guys each pledge class; some from Arlington Heights, some form All Saints, and the rest form Country Day and Paschal. These were all great guys, that we stole right out from under Fiji and KA. We also had a good amount of guys from Corpus Christi, Midland, and Louisiana (Monroe, Slidell, New Orleans, and Baton Rouge). It made for such awesome diversity, and opened us up for great recruiting classes for our next three years, we had the ability to grab awesome guys, that typically wouldn't have taken our bid, or that the other frats knew anything about.

A lot has changed in 13 years. SAE is pretty much considered 13th grade for HP and Memorial, as that is where almost all of their pledges come from. There are always the outliers from random places, but for the most part SAE doesn't have a very diverse recruiting pool anymore.

Fiji is way more respected and more exclusive than SAE these days. Sig Ep more respected and nipping at SAE's heels.
