using a rush coach???
by: class ofShould I use hiking in heels for rush? I know a lot of PKT girls used them from last year at my school, and I'm not necessarily dead set on one of those three (I'm from a major TX city where a lot of girls from my school get in - idk if they'll take all of us so kinda tryin to hedge my bets). Not to sound rude but money isn't an issue, I just want to make sure I'm not missing something even if it just helps a little? Helpful suggestions only please.

i used a rush coach (not hiking in heels tho) and it really helped me. she talked to the actives she knew in the houses that i liked and vouched for me when i didn’t know anyone. if you have no connections i would reccomend it but if you have a lot of girls from your HS already in UT sororities it might not do too much for you.

i'm from oos and used the coach from new york. tbh I don't recommend a coach based on my experience. she claimed to have gone to UT but it was like a feeder ut campus. i don't think she understands how it works at schools like UT. i got a bid and it's fine but I had to do COB after the rush process bc I wasn't happy w my options the first time around. pnms - if it doesn't work out for you a lot of people end up doing cob or sophomore rush so don't be intimidated - it's normal to rush a couple times.

i used one the one from nyc too. she was great and i ended up in my top house. my parents weren't greek so she helped me out a lot and gave a lot of good info

I used hiking in heels. Cons - it's not cheap. Pros - my coach actually went to UT so she knew exactly how it worked. She introduced me to actives in the sororities spring semester that invited me to jungle too. I met girls from a bunch of different chapters and ended up joining one of those sororities. I was really happy with rush. IDK what would have happened if I hadn't used a coach but if you're parents are willing to pay for it I think it made things a lot easier.

NO, you don’t need a rush coach. Voting in most if not all of the houses is done secretly and via an app, so having some pushy middle aged self-declared “rush coach” pressuring actives to bid her girls isn’t the power play it would have been 25 years ago. It can even backfire and result in a cut because they thought it was weird you were trying to buy your way in. Being introduced to actives by a “rush coach” at a party in the spring isn’t going to give you an edge over girls they have actually personally known for years. If you’re not a fit for the house you want, paying some scam artist thousands of dollars isn’t going to change that.

did you go pkt or some other chapter that's easy to get into without help? not trying to be rude just genuinely wondering because some are harder to get into than others

I went PKT, did not use a coach, and would not recommend using a coach. The rush coaches have zero say in who gets a bid and there’s no information they can give you that you can’t get from TikTok or talking to actual sorority members for free. If you don’t have what the chapter is looking for or the connections to put you over the edge if you’re on the bubble, a rush coach isn’t going to change that.
Please don’t let some middle aged scam artist make you believe you’re not good enough for PKT unless you pay her thousands of dollars. Be yourself, do your research, and come in with confidence and great conversation skills xx

no i was a pnm last year and genuinely used hiking in heels she is the sweetest girl ever and knows her way around rush at ut sincerely a PNM from ut who got their top house

i used hiking in heels too. they helped with my rush video (you don't meet the girls round 1 you're judged based off a video) and i like how it turned out. i think i would have procrastinated and side note apparently at UT you're screwed if u don't turn things in insanely early
i think the video was the most stressful part of rush bc who can't carry on a convo but recording yourself is ick

hiking in heels was the best decision i made sorority wise, the girl i had went to ut and she was the kindest person ever she was in DG. During rush i was able to ask her all my silly and stupid questions that I dont think anyone else would have answered! she was able to help me get into my top house which was pi phi and she is truly one of the sweetest non biased girls out there even though she was in a sorority at ut! I cannot recommend Hiking in Heels enough! if your parents have the money I definitely recommend her she is one of the sweetest and most helpful people you will meet during rush! She convinced me not to drop even though originally i thought i wouldn't get my top house, she was so helpful and so sweet and i would recommend to anyone going through rush! she also helped my friend get into her top house which was alpha chi omega! i could not recommend hiking in heels enough!!!!
