by: IYKYKThetas are the girls that were in the wildest group in high school and thought they were the sht because a couple were pretty that will run up and hug you during rush and act like you are someone they are dying to spend time with then after your third week in the sorority after rush is over, will avoid you and if you try to hang with the same girl who told you how pretty you are and how you are totally a theta and will love it will then eye roll you and talk behind your back about how you should lose weight after they see you at SAE house and start hanging all over your boyfriend who tells you half the guys in pledgeclass above banged her Then you find out your pledgesisters formed a group called the kommittee and basically railed on the rest of your pledgeclass saying the meanest things you have ever heard and you realize OMG I truly effed up. So you find friends in the other houses and cannot believe you have to go to rush in a month and try to sell a pile of horse sht of don’t believe the rumors those girls are just jealous to the next batch of innocents

Not gonna lie, theta does give really good rush week but I have never been so happy to have not fallen to the very real pressure - closed doors in Hardin and especially on sisterhood and pref days. I felt like it was too forced and I was right.
You don’t want to be the girls crying within a week that they made wrong choice. Within a month my roommate was wanting to drop but her mom made her stick it out as she was old friends with some of the alums. Finally the kommittee got outed and enough people validated her that she realized it wasn’t just new school experience. Crazy that people not on UT campus have an opinion. Don’t listen to girls in other schools who honestly have no idea what day to day is like here. If you feel like you might not fit, believe it. I can’t imagine feeling like I didn’t want to rep my house!! I’m proud of it and my pledgesisters and Thetas have made it clear they are not.

It's crazy that Theta has fallen so hard these last few years to the very bottom after decades of being the top house at UT. Why hasn't nationals or alumni stepped in? This didn't just happen overnight. They have had bad reputation and infighting problems w/Theta at UT for the last couple of years now. Just surprised that it keeps getting worse each year. Does anyone know why?

Theta was a top house 20-25 years ago, around the time Jenna Bush was one. Their vibe back then was a lot like Kappa’s is now. The slide started to happen when they switched their recruitment focus to taking new money HS friend groups and wannabe influencer mean girls who never would have gotten in before.

Jenna B was well known as a blackout drunk party girl in college so that’s not a flex. Legacies used to matter as she was not cool and dropped by tops.
Pi Phis and Kappas are still top houses and Thetas are still blackout drunks. It’s PKXO as top 3 now. If want to be a party girl go theta and have fun. If want a more balanced college experience go elsewhere where academics and character also matter.
