Spring 2024 Continuous Open Bidding

by: CornontheCOB

I have a couple friends in sororities and they seem to love it, so I became interested in joining. I learned about continuous open bidding and filled out the form, so I was just wondering what the chances of getting a bid were or how I should proceed. Thank you so much :))

Best chance is formal rush in August to get widest options - top houses rarely give COB unless special circumstances - every house has exceptions

If you are a freshman would definitely re rush that way you can get into a good house and actually become friends with the girls bc in COB most people already know who they are living with next year and it would be harder for you to make friends

Not all sororities have COBs, and the ones that do have spots available can be difficult to get into. Majority of the time the girls that get a bid through COB, are already friends with an active and therefore were recruited in the spring because they had a girl in the sorority vouching for them. If you have friends in a sorority you should ask them if they have COB spots available and express your interest. Having an active vouch for you goes a long way and will get you on the recruitment chair’s radar. Doing COB will also save you lots of $$$ because formal recruitment requires a registration fee plus however much money you spend on outfits, and your residence hall/apartment may charge you extra to move in earlier since rush week is 1 week before the first day of school.

If you KNOW you want to join one of the sororities where you have friends then let the friends know. The form won't help.
