Keeping it real about greek life

If you’re attending UT, you’re a very capable person. Period.
-Sororities and Frats are a great opportunity to make lifelong friends and attend curated parties. That’s really it.

-Texas has a lot of traditions. Even if they don’t make sense anymore. It’s just fun, to have fun.
-Sorority and Frat rankings DO NOT MATTER in life at all.
-A couple sororities may not have the same amount of mixers with certain frats but who really cares. These sororities are better off, it’s the Frats that are missing out.
-the entire Greek system is an opportunity for YOU TO BE RANKED, and we all know, it’s superficial bc no one really knows WHO YOU ARE going into RUSH.

Do you want to be ranked by what high school you attended or your zip code?

Or would you rather be ranked by your accomplishments and then maybe your looks…?

That’s the only difference between all the sororities and fraternities.

Just because you went to the right HS or lived in the right zip code does not mean you have money or you’re good looking. TRUTH.

Your accomplishments tell the story. There is a misconception that the “old” houses are better. I promise, they are not. That is what they want you to think. We all know the top 1% in the US are not sending their kids to college here. If they are, they are in the engineering or architecture schools, or an athlete.

Upper middle class is pretty much the same everywhere. Most next generation of REAL wealth moved to the nicer suburbs to get away from the “zip codes” priorities of elitism of their parents/grand parents. What Texas deems as rich or big $$ is upper middle class. It’s a farce.

GR is entertaining. You can tell what houses have a real inferiority complex (they’re constantly responding to threads -their house is ranked above some other house).

You don’t want to be in a “top house” — they are prioritizing and picking pnms for very silly reasons.
Pnms you’re better than this, go with the house you feel wanted by, not the house you have to make like you. Every sorority snap bids. Also, Panhellenic has all the data.The algorithm is smarter than you. The top houses are all falling.
It’s the race to mediocrity or to become a stepford wife. So dumb.

If you’re taking Greek life super seriously, you’re going to have a tough time in the world. Joining a specific cult is not a good idea, ever.

If you hired a consultant to get you into a sorority, that’s just sad.

You join Greek life to have fun, period. If you’re doing it for any other reason, you might want to check your priorities.
