rushing when i'm an african american girl?

by:

Hi, I was wondering what rush would be like for an african american girl? I have letters of recommendations but i'm not a legacy. I also know it's competitive here but I am very open minded.

Please no trolls and no exaggerations or sugarcoating. thanks!

Not to sound rude, but you are going to be one of the few African girls rushing so be aware of that. It's extremely competitive, a lot of these girls have been primed since they were 5 to join a certain house. When you're rushing make sure to be yourself, but still don't be swearing or anything like that. As far as dressing make sure it's very classy nothing short, low cut, but you still want to look pretty and not like a nun. There are only a few African American girls in greek life most are either in multicultural sororities or athletics or GDIs. If you really let yourself shine through you can get a house there's African American girls in Zeta, ADPi, and maybe TriDelt and KD I think (not totally positive about those last two.) Best of luck!

don't listen to the trolls, no one really cares what color you are. the sororities are concerned with your grades, resume, personality, looks and connections. you'll know the fake girls when you meet them--I don't need to list them here. there are many quality sororities that could care less what your race is

You'll be one if the few but it's not impossible. It will be much harder with the top houses, but really most white girls don't have a chance there.

There is always SDT open recruitment afterwards if things don't work out. They are very open and multicultural but don't have a house so it's not like a traditional experience.

Race shouldn't even be a factor, and all who replied in such a way should be ashamed. I can't believe the racism that fuels some of these responses. It has been almost 50 years since both the Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act were passed, and to think there are still people who are living in a dark past unwilling to progress. Any house who will "remain white" is uneducated, non-progressive, and inhumane.

To whoever posted this question, I'm sorry you even felt like you needed to ask this question or that someone would "troll" you. If you want to go through recruitment, go through recruitment and don't make race a factor, and know you're in the right if others do.

The exact PC bull nonsense answer the OP specifically asked not to get. Race is a factor. Stop the bull.

I was on recruitment last year and we were TRYING to diversify our chapter. The system IS evolving and to those scared of change, that's too bad I suppose
