SAE is better. More exclusive, the guys come from better high schools and more prominent areas. SigEp throws really good parties and the guys get pretty good grades. But not really a competition

Both are two of my favorite fraternities and with out a doubt at the top with FIJI.But at the same time they are very different in alot of basic ways. SAE may the most exclusive fraternity at UT and contains very tight social circles from very elite high schools in Texas (Hp, Memorial, Alamo Heights) which if you feel comfortable with that its great but can be hard to break into if your not. Their parties are laid back and they have a very nice house. Lots of money and and seem to be a little more studious than fiji. SigEp might be the least exclusive of all the top fraternities, taking kids from everywhere. It seems like they have a different philosophy the way they recruit. Very down to earth guys, make good grades, and are very involved on campus. Also throw big parties and love to have a good time. If you rush you should know where you fit in because the differences are pretty clear. I have friends in both and know SAEs that wouldn't fit in at SigEp and vice versa

Fiji has under a 3.0 chapter GPA, SAE is rarely in the top 10 but they're always above Fiji. Sig Ep and Kappa Sig both have much higher chapter GPAs. Even ATO got above a 3.0 this Fall, Fiji is the only relevant house below that.
