What they should do is allow the silver spurs to also be girls and make it coed instead of making some pretty and smart girl a "sweetheart" - we can hold a hose and look prettier doing it. Don't need a short king in a hat to show us how.

Not sure if the Hello girl was actually attacking you personally but from your comments most people would infer that you maybe have a crush on a girl that got sweetheart and you are pissed. Or wanted it and didn’t get it.
The fact you are on Greek rank and on this topic suggests you are in an all girl sorority and bemoaning the fact the spurs are a male club and believe they should be made co-ed? Should your sorority be co-ed?
And by all means you should look as pretty as you want and start a co-ed club and hold all the hoses you want-
You do you. But belittling other women and how they choose to spend their time to represent UT and make future building connections is beneath you.

all Im saying is that the ideas and merits behind it all should be allowed to be called into question. Ostensibly a sweet tradition but look closer - unless of course you like being a sheep and just blindly following what others told you is acceptable and norm. Guess you're in college to do as you're told. It's okay though, the world needs sheeple.

That's not at all what you said originally but okay. Maybe you should look closer at your sorority charter too. Sorority girls everywhere will be SO excited to see your petition to add men to your sorority!

@reality raises a good point, why aren’t the spurs co-ed? Co-ed sororities/frats already exist, male only/female only greek life exists, but there isn’t space for girls to do the same job as the spurs do. Again, the closest girls can come to being a spur is by being a sweetheart. Girls are just as capable as guys in taking care of bevo. Just some food for thought , but I do get the spurs are a long standing tradition at ut, so I don’t think it’ll change.

Actually the only mandatory requirements to be a Spur are a 2.5 GPA and 25 hours as a resident UT student. So those ladies are already absolutely able to apply. Heads up, Bevo currently weighs 1700 lbs!
Not sure about the Wranglers but that’s another option to be involved supporting the Longhorns. There are over 1000 groups at UT so plenty of room to join or start your own.

That’s just minimum to apply - they won’t get it obviously- tight club as to who gets actual invites to try to join -it’s a tough process to finish but guess you don’t know any or would know that already
