Help! Rush consultant?

by: Anxious mom

First child going to college - do I actually need to hire a rush consultant? From a SMALL town and don’t have any real connections

Yes you should if you really don’t have any contacts- most houses really want you to have some kind of connection

You have to know someone so get as much help as you can - put yourself out there and reach out

Hey mama, fwiw and very broadly speaking - if your daughter is friendly and outgoing and makes connections easily and is by any social norm considered “likeable” and fun then it’s possible to get into a sorority not knowing anyone. Girls do it every year.

That said it’s very competitive and if you want her in the top 6-8 houses (constant debate over rankings so it’s somewhat fluid) then she needs to really really network. Your daughter should be reaching out to PC22/21 actives. Socials are a great start. Attending events is a good idea as well if you’re close enough. it’s harder to get into any sorority if you know absolutely nobody.

If this sounds overwhelming she can always just observe and wait for sophomore year. A good amount of girls rush as sophomores because they are OOS or transfers or have other reasons.

We have no experience with rush consultants so I can’t comment on that front. Hope this helps. ❤️
