Hey y'all! I'm transferring to UT in the fall and am a member of KKG at my current school. Our chapter is fortunate enough to be top tier at my university, and we're all very close. Unfortunately coming in as a transfer makes it really hard to get a feel for where Kappa stands at UT. I'm used to being in a chapter that is extremely social and that loves to have fun. Do y'all think I should affiliate or do you think I'd have better luck trying to rock the GDI status? Thanks!

Is top three of the Big 6 (PKT). It was the second sorority at UT and has a lot of old money and tradition. Whether they'll let you affiliate depends on how "top tier" the chapter at your school really is.

Exactly. I'd be more worried about being allowed to affiliate.

how top tier they are at the school, and how high profile the Greek system there is too. I also wasn't aware that you became a GDI when you switched to a school and didn't affiliate. I've seen girls in my classes wearing Phi Mu letters and other sororities that don't have chapters here. It's not like not affiliating makes you a GDI.

I was being facetious, I was making fun of the fact that she thought failure to affiliate equalled being a GDI. Rituals all basically are about being a member for life, and a lack of affiliation at a new school doesn't change that. The only recognizable ones I've seen are girls wearing letters from non-UT sororities like Phi Mu, AOPi, AGD, Gamma Phi, DZ, SK, etc. showing they had obviously transferred from elsewhere. Still, if a UT sorority chooses not to let a girl affiliate they have less than no right to ask her to take off her letters at the new school.

Exactly. Anyone who tried to challenge me for wearing letters after rejecting my affiliation could kiss my ass.

You wouldn't have an ass left to kiss because we would have kicked it.
