PNMs READ before you Pref

by: It’s all Greek to me

Congrats on making it through rush week. It is a long, sometimes stressful week with fun conversations, a few disappointments, a lot of overthinking and second-guessing and awesome new connections made. This is true for members in all houses as well as PNMs. At the end of the week every PNM is cut from every house but one. The house that offers you a bid is excited to have you. No doubt you spent a lot of time trying to discern which house would be the best for you based on a lot of different criteria. Now is the time to let go of those judgements and step into your new home with joy and optimism for what may lie ahead. That girl you had a great conversation with and then got cut by that house….she genuinely liked you…the numbers just didn’t line up but you can still be friends! We all have friends in lots of different sororities. It adds to the fun! We all go to each other’s events and support each other’s fundraisers. You will have the opportunity to make new friends, take a leadership role, and network with other sororities and fraternities. Please be respectful to the house that chooses you! It may not be your first choice, but go happily with an open heart.
Showing up at bid day crying cause you got cut from your legacy house or didn’t get the same house as your high school friends is disrespectful to the girls that worked hard to get to know you and have fun plans ahead for you. Embrace it with an open heart…you’ll look back and be glad you did.
It can be a long emotional roller coaster of a week for everybody. Let’s make Bid Day a celebration and move forward as a supportive and united Greek community.
