Upper Middle: Texas A&M, SMU

SMU is well above A&M - its not even close. SMU is pretty close to UT stat-wise.
and sorry but RIce is miles ahead of UT . Would never want to go there - supremely boring - but they are by far the best academic school in Texas
TCU is with Baylor. Tech is down with ACC

Rice is private so its different they have more money to throw and they are small so they are very selective and dont have as many careers as one would think. SMU is good if you stay in Texas especially in the Dallas area but by far UT is the best of the Texas schools after Rice and as the person above said we are not as far behind. We have some programs better than theirs plus Austin is cooler than Houston.

A&M is ranked pretty equivalently with SMU nationally, and A&M is probably better if you're leaving Texas. Rice is ranked above UT and is the best school in Texas, but it gets a big boost for being small and therefore rejecting more people. Admissions rates heavily effect rankings, but just like Stanford isn't miles better than Berkeley, Rice isn't miles better than UT. We ranked in the top 27 and 35 nationally and internationally respectively by ARWU.
