Ohhhh...I did not understand the way they said it. This makes sense. So if you rank a house #2 and you don’t get your #1 you could still get #2 if you’re ranked in the top 50??

Here’s how bid matching works:

1. Chapters submit their lists with each Pref attendee ranked 1-the end.

2. PNM’s rank their Pref houses 1 & 2. Or 1 if they had only 1 invite.

3. The computer system takes the PNM’s #’s and matches every PNM who is on the first bid list for their #1 choices.

4. Next, the computer system takes the PNM preferences and tries to match every PNM to their #1 choice again. So if Sorority “x” matched 35 of 50 in round 1 of bid match, the system would start looking at 51-65 to see if it can match any of those 15 PNM’s to their #1. And so forth, until the houses fill to quota.

5. Once a house is full, PNM’s who ranked that house #1 but didn’t get a bid are then matched to their #2. If their #2 has not yet made quota, then they will bid match to their #2.

6. In the event that both houses make quota before a PNM is bid matched, then she can be added to one of her Pref chapters as a Quota Addition because she maximized her options and did not suicide/ SIP. Usually QA’s match to the smaller size chapter but if both chapters are the same size, she will be matched to her #1. QA’s do not know if they are QA’s - no one does.

7. If a chapter fails to make quota (ie, all their Pref PNM’s match to other houses before they fill to quota), then they are able to extend snap bids to any PNM’s who did not finish the week or any other UT women. Snap bids must be extended and accepted before bid day activities start.
