can actives offer genuine advice for rush?
by: thanksI'm getting a bit nervous knowing rush is a few days away- can any actives offer some words of advice? I have heard the typical "be yourself" & "trust the process" tips, but would love to hear what anyone has to say!:)

The best advice I can give is look at each house holistically and truly try to picture yourself in each house when you have to rank your houses. It’s so easy to be caught up in which houses you think have higher rankings on here when these rankings truly do not equate to the happiness in each chapter. A girl going through recruitment is not a one size fits all in terms of what they want out of a sorority. It’s important to ask good questions and really listen to how the girls answer them. Do they brush them off cause they really don’t know the answers? Do they avoid talking about their philanthropy on philanthropy round cause they really don’t care or lack knowledge about it? Do their sisterhood stories seem like they aren’t genuine or the house seems very divided in how well the girls know each other and get along? If you’re leaving a house having only surface level conversation, is that a sisterhood you want to be a part of? You really just need to reflect on what you want out of a sorority and sift thought houses based on their vibe and the conversations you have. Not on popularity and greekrank. This is when girls are unhappy with what they choose . If you go into recruitment with this attitude, you will have a better experience and mindset throughout the whole week. I hope you have a great recruitment!

The only advice I can offer is to next year’s PNMs and girls who are applying to UT.
If you don’t know many girls in a house and want a shot, get on the radar now. Start early. If you want a shot at a top house but come from somewhere largely disconnected or unknown, reach out to UT chapter alumnae from larger cities if you don’t know anyone through family or friends.
Step up your travel and social media game too. Yes believe it or not, this can bewitch certain people into thinking you’re cool. Welcome to 2020.
