Okay so here is what I wish someone had told me before rush.

Why is one house top and another bottom?

This is determined by one thing and one thing only. How hard is it the get a bid to that house.

So, Pi Phi is top NOT because they have the prettiest girls, smartest girls, best personalities or even the most wealth. They are the top house because almost all their bids have already been promised before rush even starts. That is why so people say if you are going to that house, you already know it. Legacies, grandma's friend, alumni favors, connections, connections, connections. This does not necessarily create the best sisterhood but they really have no choice. They can't take you no matter how much they like you so might as well have a dance party.

AZD is the bottom house NOT because they have the least pretty, dumbest, worst personality or poorest girls. This is just the house that it is easiest to get a bid from. They don't have a list of girls that they are required to take. Some of the prettiest, smartest and most successful girls are AZD. They truly get to choose their members and have a great sorority because of that. If you don't mind being labeled the bottom house, you won't regret going AZD.

The other houses are all somewhere in between. AXO/DG/Aphi have more flexibility and get some great OOS girls. DDD/Zeta/Chio get mostly in state girls.
