What do you guys think about the state of Texas Omicron and what is going to happen to them? Will they be able to stick around?

Heard from a very reliable source close to their legal team that they just have been telling their pledges and pretending like the whole case blew over but that their national is not gonna budge on the situation. Their as good as dead now.

like you posted this topic then later responded to it.

Yeah, they're fine. They'll probably stay as Texas Omicron as long as they can keep up with their house payments. Honestly, a national network isn't that big of a deal when you go to UT. Local networks are always more powerful.

Yeah its way better to have just a local network of connections than one that spans the entire country.

you don't actually really know how to network. Yeah, a national network is great and everything, but how strong is it? Guys from your chapter are much more willing to go out and help you than guys from chapters hundreds of miles away. It's just common sense, the bonds are a lot closer.

Not to mention combined with UT's network and a strong local alumni chapter network, you're pretty much good as long as you're not a moron.

what situation? Omicron is now independent from KA nationals and the house is owned by alumni, not the chapter itself. So things should be okay for them as long as they keep doing what they're doing now

It would appear to outsiders and GR trollers that things have declined, but the only ones who know are the members themselves. If they are getting out of T.O. what they want then who is to judge. The whole tiers things is bull___ anyways. DELTS, SX , SAE, ATO and anyone else who is not a FIJI, K-Sig or Sig Ep or whoever, probably thinks their frat is great, they love it and doubtful they are laying awake doubting themselves on not being "top tier". Sounds like their numbers are down from a few years ago, so budgets are a little skinnier and tough choices on the build and picking out the DJ for their next party. Rush is a little more challenging, some potentially good men will never give a local chapter a serious look, and the Animal House types might think that this is the house for them. Obviously the local alumni board has got the Chapter President by the short and curlies. So as long as they don't send anyone to the hospital, things will go on as it is. KA wont be back for a long time either. Not without a house and the alumni base against them.

All nationals are good for is taking your money and running the fraternity business. Seriously, ut chapters are pretty much local in flavor and independence with enough of a large alumni base to not really need an extended alumni network.

if you're not concerned with ever leaving Texas. Nationals isn't the same as your national alumni network. Most people care a lot about their national fraternity, but that doesn't mean they like or agree with a lot of stuff their national offices do.

Just because you go to school in Texas doesn't mean you have to work in Texas. Going off that theory if you can comprehend it, then your local alumni network isn't all based in Texas, so there are networking opportunities most likely in other major cities like San Fran, NYC, etc. Then, there's the whole UT network and different organizations network.

Fraternities have a lot of benefits, but I don't get why people like to focus on the whole grand national network part of it when it's a minimal thing. I guess it's different if you go to a bad school.

but think that most of the comments about being no real difference between a local and national fraternity are coming from Omicron.
