Transferring from Indiana university
by: SoJust curious how exclusive Greek life is here.. I am in a fraternity at IU and basically no guys are allowed in unless they are a brother. I obviously won’t be able to join a house bc mine got kicked off here but would I be able to get a social bid from someone if I go to rush and the guys like me. I don’t really know when to bring that into the conversation but I wanna come here and half some form of a social life. At Iu if you aren’t in a fraternity you don’t have a social life so idk how it is here. Thanks for any help like I said idk much about Greek life here and I don’t know anybody at Texas

To my knowledge, no fraternities have a "social membership," but I'd say it's pretty common for guys who aren't in a fraternity to have a social life and go to parties/bartabs/etc if they're friends with guys in the chapter.
Personally, I wouldn't try the rush route for a social bid because I think the answer you'll get is a pretty firm no as far as a social membership goes. However, you might still be able to get a bid and be a full-fledged member and fly under the radar of nationals. Also, rush here is probably wrapping up fairly soon depending on the fraternity, so I'd try to reach out to rush captains soon. Check out the local chapter websites to find their info. Good luck
