Everyone keeps saying she knew what she was drinking. She wasn't even a freshman yet... This all happened at freshman orientation! Plus I highly doubt she would have drank as much as she did if she could taste the everclear... That's the problem the sig eps have.

She absolutely knew she was drinking alcohol. I've never had strong everclear punch that didn't taste like an alcoholic drink. Also, if she went to a frat party and drank that much, it's probably safe to assume she had done some partying in high school. It's not like most incoming freshmen never partied in high school.

I agree. However, I can also understand that while the taste of alcohol is present in punch, sometimes it is very difficult to tell how much (especially if you have already had a few). The question I think a lot of people have is why the sig eps were serving such punch to such young girls. What did they think was going to happen?

Those girls would probably be drinking in a month or two when they started school, so I don't think it's too significant a difference. Even if they are actually controlling for minors drinking, chances are the underage people can easily get alcohol.

Also, I'm pretty sure they were serving it to the male rushees too, so I wasn't like they were just liquering up girls.

I'm not little Miss Perfect and wasn't during high school either BUT until Freshman orientation I've never had such punch before and it took me for a ride. So it happens. Now did I complain and have a fit. NO! But do I drink the punch or anything else offered to me by a guy. NO!! Don't want to find myself in her situation or worse. You just can't trust the male population anymore and that sucks.

Don't blame the girl for anything more than drinking irresponsibly, but I don't blame Sig Ep for anything more than serving alcohol to minors. The predator is the one who is foremost to blame, but everything was being focused on Sig Ep, and the girl is going after the fraternity for a bunch of money instead of the predator.

Agreed. The predator is the real menace here, but what the girl is trying to achieve with the lawsuit doesn't seem like she's trying to get justice. Seems like she just wants money.

Fraternities invite the girls to these events is pretty simple, and not devious in nature. These summer orientation parties are rush events. If they invite a bunch of guys to chill and no girls, it'll be a big sausage fest, and the guys will probably be thoroughly unimpressed. If they don't let the girls drink too, obviously the girls will probably just leave, since anyone not legitimately rushing is probably just there for free booze. Also, they're serving to the guys who are equally young and inexperienced, and no one complains about how it's wrong to serve them. So it's an unrealistic double standard.

That has nothing to do with the discussion, troll.
