fraternity comments

I?m always surprised at the near-sightedness with which people rank fraternities here. If you're rushing, you shouldn't just look at a fraternity as it stands now; you should look at where it's going to be in a few years. I mean, you wouldn?t buy a stock based entirely on its current price, would you? No, you?d buy it based on where you expect the price to go.
Now, that?s not to discount other factors. House size/location, tradition, national reputation, current place in the UT Greek system, etc. should all come into play. However, things certainly change. Fiji may have been top house for a while, but twenty years ago DU, Beta, Sigma Nu, and even Pike were considered up there as well. And since then, the first three have disappeared while the last has been left in the dust by houses like Kappa Sig and Sig Ep.
So, let?s take a look at some of the trends as they currently stand at UT.

Fiji/SAE: People who insist on picking one ?best? house would insist that it fluctuates from year to year, but they?re both easily above everyone else and it doesn?t look like they?re going anywhere anytime soon. However, those who haven?t done their research would do well to note that SAE nationals are currently engaged in four (4) multi-million dollar lawsuits due to hazing, pledge deaths, etc. While their Texas chapter could certainly stand on its own, it?s only prudent to think about your nationals as well.

Sig Ep: They?ve been improving for a while and there?s really no reason they can?t compete with the above two. If anything, they?re the next in line for if one of the big guys fall.

Kappa Sig: Obviously trending up. Their new lodge is nice and with the exception of a few weirdos their pledge classes have been fairly solid. They?re the ones who have benefited most from KA?s demise.

Omicron is head and shoulders better than delt or sigma chi. Please compare money, sororities, and houses.

yeah omi is good today but i think his point is that will they remain good? i mean what do they say to the high school kids, well no were not a real frat but we have lots of money and pretty girls? i guess that would work on niave freshmenn who dont know better but how do you build a chapter on nothing but alcohol and hazing?

....and naive freshman are not the guys top chapters want to pledge. Freshman from good schools are all going to know that they want a real fraternity....you guys are sure helping Kappa Sig and Sig Ep though because the guys who used to go KA from top schools will be pledginging those two instead..... especially Kappa Sig.

After the top 4 (fiji,sae,sigep,ksig), there is an extremely large drop off in quality. Those are the only fraternities who still hold the qualities of a true fraternity man-white, rich and raised by good christian families into gentlemen. Hence why most top sorority girls do not venture off far from the top 4 regardless of who you have playing at roundup.

Right on the bullseye. KA hasn't been all white in a long while--Ward and Ammen rollin' in their graves seeing hindoos, moslems and mexicans in TX KA. Might as well stay gdi with that TX O crap.
