indians in top frats
by: HOOK EM' 24how many indians are there in top frats (Fiji, SIg Ep, Rho, ZBT) at UT Austin. One of my older friends who went to Highland Park-Ryan Khetan-got a bid at KA. Is it harder for brown people to get a bid at top frats and is there much diversity in the top frats in the top frats at UT?

1-2 per pledge class is a massive overstatement. I've never heard of an indian in Sig Ep or ZBT. Not sure about Delt but i've never seen any.

It's a lot more common in mid-tiers, and esp low tiers. Phi Psi has a few, KSig has one, DU has a few, Beta has a bunch, all the random frats that no one cares about have plenty. Nobody wants to say it out loud, and this comment will probably get deleted because of it, but there is some racial bias in the top fraternities. It's not the Klan or anything, but coming from an Indian trust me you will feel different.

Would like to add that no one will outright attack you or anything lol, its worth a shot if you are interested. Just be aware of it and don't turn your nose at mid-tiers.

Is the lack of Indians also cause not many rush the top houses? Also how is it if you're out of state but not poor?

Thanks for replying in detail. Are ZBT, sig ep, ksig the same too? Also I definitely don't get along with most indians and am quite different to ones I've seen in TX. Would that, as well as being related to congressmen and a former governor and having OOS alumni, help in any way with the 'top' houses or would I more realistically end up in a mid tier?

Reality is that not everyone really wants to be in what you call a “top frat” and there are plenty of students who love being in the middle tier and the ones “nobody cares about”. This is all very centric talk because there are many, many who do like those frats. It depends on your social network...

I made another post below if you want too take a look. I have the same advice as before, but get the idea that you're "different than" or "better than" other Indian guys. I know a couple of the Indians in top fraternities and they are all at least somewhat proud of their heritage. I guarantee that if you act like you're better than other Indians you won't get a bid because of those guys. Actually, even I would make sure you don't get a bid at my middle tier if I found out that you act like that. If you're coming from out of state, those few Indian guys may be the only ones willing to vouch for you because of shared experiences, so don't act like you're better than them. Be confident in yourself and proud of your heritage, don't take crap.

what about delt, ksig, and sigma chi? If you're gonna include KA you have to include those too.

are what i think about when i hear "top tier"
and dont tell me rho is irrelevant because they mix with pkt and still get full PCs from HP. why so many KAs on this god damn site.

I've had a lot of time since quarantine so I actually texted some friends about this in case you're still curious. There may be an Indian in delt, and they've definitely bid them in the past (I asked an Indian friend who decided not to go greek but got a bid). Sigma Chi is pretty welcoming, I know of 2 indians with them and a lot of hispanics. KA still has the one indian, although someone told me the had another Indian. Fiji 1 indian. SigEp and Rho apparently had some middle eastern kids a while ago, but I don't know if thats true its just hearsay. ZBT Has an indian guy but he basically looks white. Ksig has 1 indian. I met an Indian guy who said he was ATO back when they were still here. I got a bid from 1 of the "Top Tiers" but decided to go to a middle one because I liked the guys. There's plenty of us there. Basically same advice as before, don't be discouraged, and don't be a coward.

If you dont mind, when you say top tier do you mean fiji/Sigep/rho/zbt only?
Also do you know if the zbt indian is OOS

ZBT ain't got no indians. They do have a black person in their most recent PC THO

They do. His name is Vikram. Just go on their ig and they're even following him. Thats how I verified, as I didn't rush ZBT personally and don't know anyone in it well.

Zbt also had an iranian, pedrum, but he's hardly the average (or above average) 'minority' who rushes

to add on to this. it appears that your only hope as a brown boy to get into a top-tier frat is KA. They have two Indians in their last two PCs. Sachin was a rare exception at Fiji and you won't have any luck at Sig Ep, Rho, ZBT if you are Indian

Lol nah. KA has one Indian kid-Ryan Khetan. Fiji has one Indian Kid-Sachij Jaggi. Sig all, Rho, ZBT have no Indians in the entire frat. So mainly all white for the top frats.
