who tf came up with the Big 6?

There are two articles from a long time ago that mention the “Big 6.” One is from 1976 and describes a woman’s rush experience in 1962. It’s called Sisterhood is Powerful. The article that’s more often mentioned as the origin of the term is a Texas Monthly piece called That Certain Look also from 1976. The Big 6 has existed here for as long as anyone can remember really. It’s not a new term people made up on Greekrank. Do I think it’s correct that the Big 6 are the only good sororities? Of course not. But these houses being called the “top” houses and being referred to as the Big 6 will probably not ever change. Ranks at UT are nowhere near as fluid as at other schools
