ut fraternity rush
by: ypHow do you get into a top fraternity if you're out of state but not poor; went to private school and international school, but have no tx connections. Is it really very difficult since everyone here mentions you need connections to get on the rush list.

That’s probably bc Fiji takes lots of ACC kids. I do know a few out of state kids get bids later in the summer. Try to go to the first orientation session for sure. In the mean time...are you sure your parents/friend’s parents don’t know any alums (not specifically from UT)?

For all the top ones it is easier if you have someone to help get you in contact with them. Usually they can call/email the chapter or fill out an online rec form to put you on the radar. Are you able to come to Austin for round up? I would definitely do that if you are available.

It’s a big frat rush event. You generally will need to be on the rush list to get into the events at top houses. You have time to get on this list though. I think your best bet is via alums if you do not know anybody. Do you know any other freshmen that are rushing? That’s another way to get into the parties if they can tell their rush captain.

Also some frats have their rush contact info on their websites, although I don’t know how much they use those

Sign up on the UT IFC website. You’ll get a lot of guys text you and invite you to event. The big frats like Fiji, zbt, Sig ep, and Ksig don’t really use the IFC list but I know Delt and KA pull a lot of guys off The list and they’re just as good if not better. Frats will reach out to you and invite you to stuff, GO TO AS MANY AS YOU CAN. A lot a times you’ll meet other guys rushing at the smaller frat who are also rushing the bigger ones who can help you get in. Good luck

Look at the 6 fraternities mentioned above. I simply saying that I know KA and Delt take people from the IFC rush list. Wasn’t ranking or saying one frat was better then the other.

Idk if you'd really wanna go to the smaller frats' events tho. might give off a bad vibe to the better ones

Lol ksig is def not better than Delt. And especially not KA. I’m tired of seeing ksig bs all over gr.

No they dont know any alumni or anyone in a frat who goes to ut. Do you think I'd have any luck trying to directly reach out to rush chairs?
