big 6 tradition

Let me state clearly...I am NOT in a Big 6 sorority. However, here is my point. Big 6 will always be Big Six. That is their name, their grouping. It is a historic name bestowed upon them in a Texas Monthly article in the 70's by Prudence Mackintosh. She was, I believe a Kappa, and was describing her rush experience. I actually googled and read the article out of curiousity. There can never be a "shake up" in that group because they are exactly that. Now, this does not mean that another sorority is incapable of having a better recruitment than the lower level of Big Six. It happens sometimes. But Big Six is what is is. A tradition.
Now some girls are horrified at the prospect of anything "less" than Big 6. Some girls, and this is the hard for traditionalists to understand, are interested in other sororities and don't really care. It's true. Not everyone is devastated if they are in another sorority. Currently, I would say Alpha Phi and AXO run closely with Big 6, but it's more of a parallel thing than an equal thing. The sororities that compete with Big 6 can change, but those are the two most current ones.
I have no dog in this fight and this is my unbiased opinion, but what I have observed and found to be true. And I am in NONE of the sororities mentioned

Axo is moving up but still cringe dg has too many goodie two shoes and adpi got a hot better pc but still some weirdos in there

Part of APhi is parallel to Big 6 but part is integrated with it with all of their PKT and ZTA friend groups.

You can actually. It's like I'll Row at Bama. Other places have similar groups, like first tier or First Circle, Three Sisters...whatever.It's no big deal. It's a tradition. Some people think it matters and some don't. Overall, I don't think most people really care after recruitment ends. The point the OP is making. ..I think, anyway...is that Big 6 is a tradition. You can't move in and out of it because it's specific to those 6. But it doesn't make the ones not in Big Six any less and currently Aphi and AXO cross rush with them a lot.

Someone wonder why Aphi can't be happy being the middle tier sorority that they are. Social climbers are the worst.

So true. Rankings are bs like rush is a PERSONAL experience. I knew girls with pkt and a “lower” sorority by pref and they prefed the lower tier bc they felt better there and didn’t want to deal with the same bs from high school. NO ONE CARES WHAT SORORITY YOU ARE IN JUST FIND YOUR PLACE AND MAKE THE MOST OF IT
