Sig Ep may go dry in the short term in 2020 and be enforced for the next few years but will eventually be all wet again

SigEp is solid top tier even after the no drinking rule, and maybe even because of the no drinking rule

I think the policy says no alcohol in the house or on house grounds. Away from the house is OK if 3rd party vendor and approved guest list.

Fraternities, including SigEp, have developed a reputation of being organizations that exist to promote alcohol consumption. Our money and time are spent on parties. We are known in the media and in our campus communities as havens for drinking. That must change for SigEp. Removing alcohol from our chapter facilities sends a clear message about what we value and what we do not value.

Someone is in la la land about what the real issues are. Alcohol is not the issue any more than guns are the issue in mass shootings. Hazing and stupid decisions are the issue.

Almost everyone drinks. That is not the problem. Banning alcohol from the chapter house serves no purpose except to help with insurance. I suspect they will end up serving beer and wine to appease nationals. Instead of addressing the hazing issues that are the real problem.

Wonder if taking alcohol out of the houses will work like prohibition and push students to riskier behaviors in other locations and more secrecy?

They have a strict no-hazing policy. Problem is there is no way to enforce it other than shutting down the chapter after someone is seriously injured. There's no on-site management. The animals run the zoo.

That is where their problem lies not with the alcohol. Banning alcohol isn’t going to do a damn thing to help

SigEp believes strongly in the importance of consent and regularly provides training opportunities to our members on consent and healthy relationships. The safety of our members and guests is of critical importance.
