how hard is it to get a bid at a top frat?
by: BidzAs a guy transferring into UT I don't really know how hard it is to rush some of the top frats. I've heard some have been rushing since February (Fiji) but other than that I don't know how to get looked at by some of the top frats. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Connections. To get connected with the top tier fraternities you have to either know active members already or have parents that know alumni that can help get you connected. Most of top tiers will be done with rush by the end of July so many of them already know who they are giving out bids to but if you act fast you may still have a chance.

You can’t in the door at Fiji without connections. Guys with those connections knew when to get there. Started in Early spring for them and finishes up soon. Is what it is. Focus on some of the mid or lower mids

Early Spring?
Just decided on which University to attend in late Spring, mid-April.
Then Prom, finals and graduation.
Now your telling me if I did not start Rush at UT during my Senior year in High School, I will need to accept a mediocre fraternity and social life. How could I? I just chose UT in mid-April.
If this is true, I may transfer to SMU or Duke, my other choices and Rush there in the Spring of my Freshmen year in College. NOT HIGH SCHOOL!

I agree with the incoming Freshman. UT fraternities should allow all incoming freshmen pnms an opportunity to meet members during the August designated Rush period. Recruiting members while they are in High School is premature and unfair to most out of state incoming freshmen.

Yes I’m sorry but ut rush is hardcore. It all started in February. Both rho and Fiji (top frats) have given our most of their bids. So if you want to get a top frat I would transfer. It’s just the way it is. It’s just about knowing people. If you didn’t know that rush is almost over then you don’t have the connections to get rho or fiji

Out of state kids with the connections got to events. Sorry. True for PKT also. Those top ones are all about connections.
It should show you that there are great people in other chapters not just the top ones though. Obviously you are not the only one who didn’t know. You could probably try reaching out to rush chairmen at Fiji and Sig Ep (wouldn’t bother with Rho-less out of state) and see if they can help you out. I am sure some contact info is on their websites.

Incoming PNM Freshman.
I live in Kansas and have not been on campus yet.
Will arrive next month in time for RUSH in August.
