What are the chances of getting into a sorority as a sophomore?

All sororities take some amount of sophomores, some more than others. Sororities don't have to follow sophomore quota, but there are some who take more sophomores who really make up for it. Connections are key, and if you've been at UT for a year that can really work in your favor or it can really work against you. Just be positive going through recruitment, that's all you can really do at this point. If you have a 3.5GPA or higher, all the more power to you.

Did you rush last year? If you did your chances are lower. Not a lot of do overs. The majority of successful sophs seem to be transfers from the Pace program who would have gotten bids as freshmen anyway but couldn't be here because they didn't get admitted right away.

Do you have strong friendships with lots of sorority members who will fight for you? That doesn't mean someone was in your class or you sort of knew them in high school.

Have you done anything to embarrass yourself freshman year if you were here?

Do you have recommendations and letters of support for all houses? If not, game over.

Your GPA needs to be 3.5 or above unless you are super special to some house.

by: Yeah

I know plenty of girls who went to UT as freshmen or transferred who have rushed successfully.

Rush successfully as in top tier or not?

I think the higher Sophomore quota has actually made it easier for Sophomores to get in a good sorority compared to years past.

but some of them don't use the sophomore quota at all or in very small numbers. no one has to use it. you should never count on it. you must still have all the requirements freshmen have to have even a small chance at the higher tiers

what exact requirements other than 3.5+ Gpa?

focus on connections with girls in each sorority rather than requirements. They will (hopefully) pull for you.

Are you brain damaged? Do you leave your dorm room ever? Do you talk to people? Don't you get involved in groups and activities? Go to events? Have friends who know people? You can't spit at UT without hitting a sorority girl. You're obviously socially slow and not cut out for Greek life here.

Aren't you a little basket of sunshine! It's clearly girls like you with such a tactless attitude that give our greek system a bad name. Have some class. She was asking a question...

A stoopid question. We don't need brain dead chicks like this in our Greek system

What clubs do they join? Young life?

by: okay okay

do what YOU like, chill and be yourself, and you'll meet plenty. It's Texas, people are nice! Don't be one of those girls who gloms on for rush motives, but forgets the "friends" bit

If you don't already have great strong relationships with sorority members and you're a sophomore then you're doomed. Who the hell joins clubs just to meet sorority members sothey can try to use their friendship for rush.

But unfortunately, I've met maybe 1 or 2 who made it so obvious

Then you really didn't reach out. You sound awkward. Sorority life probably isn't for you.

Just rush and see where you fit in, if you really want to do it, you will like it

It's not about fitting in and liking it. there could be a chance that a sophomore PNM will feel "at home" in a sorority and still get cut because they'd rather give out bids to freshmen.
