I can't confirm this, but I have definitely heard rumors of this happening to Pi Phi because they got too picky and didn't meet quota.

this really did happen, I'm a PiPhi legacy and my mom really wanted me to be a PiPhi but I didn't think it was a good fit for me. I was disappointed at first because I really felt at home with DG but now I love my sorority and everything worked out for the best. I can't post this now because I'm not returning to UT in the fall

That's a totally different situation and not what you initially presented. You were acting like you didn't go to Pi Phi's party then suddenly ended up with a bid there which is impossible.

Since you're a legacy Pi Phi HAD to put you on their first bid list if you attended pref (and that's true of most if not all sororities.) You weren't on the other sororities' first lists at all and it's very possible you wouldn't have been on Pi Phi's if you weren't a legacy. In that case, with the old system you would have been completely bidless. So I wouldn't be bragging or whining about it and consider yourself lucky. Pi Phi HAD to take you. Lucky them.

Oh and one other thing, if you had decided to not list Pi Phi as your third choice after pref and just left the others one and two, then you would not have received a bid at all. So deal with that truth.

Pi Phi probably dropped her after 1st round. Sounds like someone just wants to make Pi Phi look desperate. Nice but no cigar.

When someone is a snap bid, they know it because they didn't go to preference since they dropped out or they went to preference and didn't list all of their options so they went bidless.

This is clearly someone who's confused and is trying to make Pi Phi look bad for some reason of their own.

The only group with a snap bid reputation is Kappa. Let's face it. When rush first begins they get over confident, later cutting too many. Then, the ones they DO want dump them.
