scared

by: oos

I'm gonna be a freshman this fall and I would really love to be in a sorority at UT but the more I read the more scared i am to rush. I'm from out of state, I know 1 person i can get a rec letter from, and I'm not great at talking to lots of new people. I'm reading that even girls with connections get cut from their favorite chapters. there's a rush coach charging like $1500???? i am totally fine not being in a big 6 chapter but i am worried if I will be able to get a bid at all. how often do girls get dropped by every chapter? if i stick through the week am I likely to get a bid?

honestly if you fit the stereotype you’ll at least get a bid- pretty, have the personality, etc. but i know peopl who didn’t get a bid at all but it’s your judgement

UT rush is scary but it is so fun to be in a sorority that you should at least try it! All chapters have out of state girls. You do need to find Recs for every chapter. They can’t offer you a bid without one. Maybe find a local Panhellenic. They usually have ladies who will write one even if they don’t know you. Good luck!

Not many people get dropped by all the sororities. People get dropped by the ones they want and then they drop out. Go in with an open mind, and you will most likely find a great home. I'm in a "lower mid" sorority, and I love my group of friends.
