The required dues for this semester are the highest ever.
Our Chapter Treasurer said special assessments will be needed for Spring Formal.
NO financial oversight, No response for a Chapter expense report.
Might be my last semester as an active, I am a Junior.

They paid to delete the above replies asking about how much gets skimmed.

Over half of our Greek Chapter social events were canceled this semester. Allowing each Chapter at least a $1,000 credit for each dues paying member. Most Chapters have 50 - 200 members. That adds up to $50 - $200,000 that needs to be refunded to their Chapter members.

Lets not allow these Chapter officer seniors to pocket our money and leave campus after graduation. We have seen this movie too many times at UT.

Why there was at least 8 members always running for Chapter Treasurer. Then 5 or more running for Social Chairman and Prez. The Treasurer has immediate acce$$ to our ca$h account. The Social Chairman can negotiate lower party and supply costs and charge the Chapter full price. The Prez will usually charge the Chapter for a limo and suite at our Fall/Spring formal hotel.

Pressed hard via numerous solicitations for those running for Treasurer last Spring. I now clearly understand why...

UT Greek Chapter Fees and the manner in which they are financially dispersed is a serious matter. This ongoing inner-Chapter financial fraud must be stopped. Independent financial Chapter audits must be conducted every semester for each Greek Chapter to remain in good standing with the university.

Told our PC active that I was ready to drop because the pre-paid dues were too high for what we were getting in return. He said go ahead and drop, the fraternity keeps your money. NO REFUNDS. Staying for now.

Our Chapter announced a backyard barbeque with all the fixins. Expecting brisket, steak and chicken. Attended and it was just Costco hamburgers and hotdogs with potato chips and coleslaw. What a rip!

After breaking down my dues for the semester, I paid $500 for this low budget barbeque. REFUNDS?

Why in the world are Fiji and SAE's dues above 6 grand a semester? I understand Fiji partially since they have the biggest mansion in Austin. But SAE? $9k a semester?

That's SMU's yearly tuition after being an active for 8 semesters. Even still, most fraternities in the SEC with gigantic mansions don't have dues that expensive (minus FSU and Alabama).

Someone explain the context to me because I'm genuinely curious. How are FIJI and SAE so expensive?

I give it 10 years before SigEp becomes just as popular as those two considering Fiji, SAE, and SigEp are composed of the same type of kids. SigEp is just more affordable with $3k a semester.

The Greek System at UT Austin is a Ponzi scheme for it's Chapter Officers.
