why is quota so low?
by: ?I understand the mechanics of how sorority quota is calculated based on chapter sizes, but given how many girls rush and want to join greek life it still seems very low. Is there a specific reason beyond the base calculations that quota isn't raised to accept a slightly larger percentage of girls who rush?

Quota is based on the # of girls at pref divided into the # of chapters.
By pref, many who don’t have big 6 left (or big 7 with aPhi) drop, so quota is smaller than if we set quota based on the total group that started the rush process.
It’s stupid to drop. ALL chapters are great. Look at how pretty AXD is. ADPi has such a pedigree at UT. DG has fun, attractive girls.
There is more parity with girls overall than ever before. Just some quirky differences and personalities, but all chapters are filled with bright, fun, attractive girls with a FULL slate of sorority activities. Gorgeous chapter houses ALL.

There's the "Big Six or Bust" mentality, but not that many girls want to rush in the first place -- only around 1,200 a year out of 40,000 students compared with 2,000+ out of 30,000 students at Bama. Then again, UT is a national university located in a major US city with tons of stuff to offer besides Greek life.

Greek life won’t grow at UT because of this.
