st. stephen's and st. andrew's

by:

Everyone knows that if you want to go SAE or FIJI you had to go to either one of the wealthy publics schools (HP Westlake Memorial AHHS) or to one of the elite private schools in Texas. I've noticed a lot of St. Marks, ESD, Kinkaid, EHS kids in SAE/FIJI for years, but does anyone know why St. Stephen's and St. Andrew's guys only recently started going FIJI/SAE? It surprised me that there haven't been guys from these 2 schools in top houses until relatively recently even though St. Andrews and St. Stephen's are clearly the wealthiest, most prestigious schools in Austin and have many of the most prominent families in Texas.

Kids that go there usually go on to private universities and Ivy League.

Yeah and the ones that go UT have a much higher possibility of being kind of nerdy weird for some reason.

Kids from St. Stephens and St. Stephens, even though most typically don't end up at UT, are almost all FIJI/SAE locks. From what Ive seen, if you went to one of these 2 schools, it means you're either from Tarrytown or Westlake which automatically means that your family has a ton of money and tradition. Also, most of these guys were born into greek Texas families. They are the epitome of what the top tier fraternities at UT represent.

And this is exactly why there are good guys in other fraternities as well outside of the Fiji SAE bubble.

Guys that don't come from the premier schools go to other fraternites

Guys that are nerdy, weird, etc. automatic get bids from top fraternities because of their school connections

Don't act like your dad or anyone else's could just pick up and move to Westlake, HP etc., and be just as wealthy there. We all live in different parts of the country where we can find the best opportunities. Economics 101. Very few people can actually say that they can live where ever they want in the U.S. and just be as well off.

I agree completely. The guys from these schools are locks to get bids from SAE and FIJI because they are exactly what top houses look for. Prominent families, wealth, guys who have been top-tier their whole life if that makes sense. They don't need to try-hard when they get to college because they understand the tradition involved with these fraternities long before setting foot on campus.

But that being said, it doesn't mean that there aren't any good guys from the non old-line schools as well. There are plenty of good rushees that don't come from HP, Memorial, Westlake, and the already mentioned top private schools in the state. They just come from a different social circle, thats all. And if you don't run in the St. Stephens St. Andrews Westlake/Memorial River Oaks/HP social circle, then these guys can come off as extremely arrogant and douchey. Its just the way they've been brought up.
