dropped from "low tier" house

by: UTgirl

Really wish I hadn't read anything on this site before Rush. It really clouded how I felt about many of the sororities. Before Rush, I could never could get an answer about what really made a big 6 sorority "better" than the others. I decided to preference a house considered "lower tier" and was dropped. But on preference night given invites to two sororities considered higher. Wasn't expecting that.

After sisterhood I put a lower tier house 1st along with a higher tier. 2nd I also put a higher tier. I was only invited back to the two higher tier sororities. I was cut from my first choice lower tier one.

So what exactly is your complaint? You ended up with two “higher tier” sororities in the end. Or are you just here to brag?

Not bragging because I was cut from my top choice. Just realizied that the lower tier sororities may be more selective than this website makes them out to be.

Yes - Monday at 12:55 I knew that I had been dropped from my first choice after sisterhood. I also knew that my two houses left for preference night were higher tier. I am perfectly happy with the house I have but am surprised that people on here think it is unbelievable that a person would WANT a so called lower tier house. I also know a few other people that picked lower tier houses after sisterhood, including my roommate. But my roommate didn't get cut from the house she wanted like I did.

The “lower” tier houses are getting great girls!!!! 1100 girls went through and only about 400 of them can go Big Six. Of course all chapters get great girls!!!!! If you didn’t know a lot of girls in big six you either dropped out or went to one of “Lower” chapters. It was all connections for top ones. It is ridicules to think only good chapters are ones called big six. That perception really needs to change bc it is so so wrong. All chapters have a vibe and everyone just needs to find one they fit in

So a sorority didn't like you. That just proves that losers can get into all the houses. Enough Said! Now troll away troll!

Perhaps it's also possible that the "lower tier" house somehow got wind that you were still in the running for the "top tier" houses. Knowing how big of a deal "top tier" is at UT, maybe they wanted to cut you because they figured you would just go for the top tier and wanted to use their invites for girls they thought might actually choose them. I'm not sure how they would have known unless you inadvertently said something during the round. Or, you have certain qualifications (you went to a certain high school or camp) that screams "top tier". I'm just speculating. But, that is one of the options.

At the end of the day, we don't know. You give it your best and that's all you can do. And you're right, the "tier talk" probably isn't as true as people want to make it out to be. I'm glad you received a bid to a place you enjoy!
