Sorority Reputations for pnms

So many posts on this site focus on rank and that’s so stupid. If I were going through rush soon, I’d rather have a good idea about how the sororities generally are rather than look at rankings made by self absorbed idiots. I’ll try to cover lots of areas like reputation, looks, personality, academics and you can focus on whatever you care about when picking a sorority. Also, this is just my opinion based on the girls I’m friends with/know about. Kind of long so I’ll do a few at a time. \n\n\n\n\n

Tri Delt- another strong sorority. Half are beautiful, half are honestly not, but the pretty ones are the most outgoing and well known. Half are party girls, and half are Bible thumpers too. My Tridelt friends are super fun, and I always have a great time with them. Some seem kind of snobby, but overall they’re friendly and have good relations with other sororities too. Very well liked by top/middle tier frats. They have some very smart girls, but also the majority are in easier majors. They take a mix of city and suburb girls, but mostly suburb girls. They’re kind of a blend between “old money” values and “new money” type of girls. Hard to explain.

DG- was apparently once really good at UT, but seem very mediocre lately. Everyone hates on them a lot on here but they’re a group of very nice and smart girls. They’re not one of the more outgoing sororities/well liked by all the frats, but it doesn’t matter. They generally have different values than most sorority girls, and are more genuine, focused on school, and sweet. I never hear much about them anymore, but I wouldn’t say they’re a bad sorority.

PKT- just gonna group all of pkt together because if you’re going to rush one of them, you already know and they already know. They’ve always been considered strong and the best at UT, but that’s beginning to change as people care less about old money or how your family is so established in Texas. They’re still well liked by top frats, as they are probably coming from the same areas. They focus on very specific zip codes, and you have to have very strong connections to get into any of them. Overall they’re all very rich, but having money doesn’t make you pretty or skinny or make your personality any better. However they do have a lot of beautiful girls, but a majority of them seem to have inherited their dad’s looks (whoops). They will always be well respected at UT because of their money and connections. Just don’t go into rush hoping to get one if you aren’t from a certain area or know lots of people in them.

This is a joke. My friend got into One of the PKT groups. She knew absolutely no one as she was from another country. She didn’t even have recs for every group. Her family is not wealthy. She is beautiful with a great personality. PKT takes a lot of random girls, even give out a lot of snap bids to fill their quotas.

Why lie? It is obvious once rush starts. Come on.....They don’t give out lots of snap bids. Yes, Kappa gave a few out a couple of years ago but that just means they cut too hard and P and T had better recruitments. I agree they do take a few girls with something special....personality/looks/legacy etc....from out of state. But...... In state is much harder if not impossible to get into Pi phi or Theta or even Kappa without connections. That is the truth. Why try to deny it?

The truth is certain Connections can also work against you. With connections comes baggage and gossip. I know lots of girls cut with good connections or so they thought.

Pretty good....I don’t really think Chi O is quite as well loved as you seem to think but they are a good sorority. Pretty girls and more city like.....closer to PKT like than any of the others for sure.

No one was more surprised than me when my daughter pledged Kappa last fall as a sophomore. She had good recs, but she knew ZERO Kappas!! We are not filthy rich, not old money, but are upper-middle class. She is beautiful, genuine, a GOOD girl (not a big partier or a slu#), was very involved in her large HS (cheerleader/captain, PALS officer, FCA officer, lots of philanthropy, Summa grad, very smart, kind, giving, and a great Christian girl). So even if you are not familiar with a certain sorority, or if you don't know anyone from that sorority, don't rule them out. Stay positive and focused and SMILE! Hook 'Em!
