coming in as a transfer student and want to rush

by:

Hi! I am transferring to UT and coming in as a sophomore from California. I didn't know for sure that I was transferring until after June 1st so I haven't sent in any recommendation letters.

I'm wondering if many sophomore/transfer students get bids and to which chapters? Also, since it's past June 1st, should I still send recommendation letters anyways or will I automatically get cut from certain sororities after the first round?
I've been reading all of these discussions and it's low-key stressing me out and getting my hopes down and I already register and paid to rush so I'm wondering if it's even worth it to go through the process

Be careful about relying on anonymous, specific advice for anything important in you life that is given on Greek Rank. If you really want the answer to your question, contact the university's office of Sorority and Fraternity Life.

Yes, not having letters and bad gpa gets you cut automatically. Top tiers need connections but just be open minded. Being a sophomore doesn’t really make a difference

Following up on above -- I'd say get letters for every sorority. There really is no way to know what each and every sorority will do with any rec letter after it is received anyway. Bottom line - "better late than never."

My earlier comment about contacting UT's Greek life office may not be the best advice because that office may just tell you that recs are not technically required in order for you to participate in rush. I think everyone would generally consider such advice to be very bad advice for a typical PNM. If you need more information on recs and how to get them, there is another website out there with thousands of pages about recs and recruitment that you may find more helpful. Good luck.
