I heard others mention that before too. Between the 2 ADPhi isn't as good. ADPhi have coed chapters and they're very weak unknown in the south. Dke has long traditions in the south. Forever The Top chapter in some of the best southern schools like unc uva alabama. Kind of do their own thing though so they're nationally more eccentric / weird and definitely wild. Horrendous pledging Process. The texas chapter had a spotty history from what I heard and was non existent from the 70s to 2000s.

Sigma Nu or Beta theta pi? UT used to have strong chapters of both these fraternities. Sigma nu used to be right next door to KA which is now Kap Sig's property and house.

Wrong post. DKE, Sigma Nu, and Beta all had failed attempts to reestablish in the last decade, so I doubt any will attempt to again just yet. Not to mention Omicron would still have to wait 3 more years to join a new national organization, and they probably won't last that long.

Yeah, Beta did, they folded a few years ago. They were still listed on the fraternities on the ratings here until recently.

Closed once since its inception at UT. When they lost their house (the house that ATO bought) due to poor recruitment they came very close to extinction, but was saved by absorbing the Phi Kaps shortly after they got booted from killing a pledge. The beta hapter stayed in the phi kap house until they moved to the apt complex behind KA. T Beta hed its charter finally pulled around 2007 for poor performance. Beta HQ has never attempted to recolonize since that time.

I figured Beta had closed in the 90s and came back in the 2000s before closing for poor performance. I guess they just went way downhill and somehow managed to kick around for over a decade barely keeping afloat. Still supports the idea that they folded recently after doing very poorly, but it's theoretically been long enough for them to give another shot (though we are almost over-saturated with colonies and tiny brand new chapters). Sigma Nu actually did fail to recolonize a few years ago despite being a strong chapter until getting kicked off in the 90s.

If people keep saying they hear that Omicron is going back to KA, I can only assume they're lying to rushees. I assume the only reason they're still getting big enough pledge classes to fill their house is because they're telling rushees "trust me we'll totally be affiliated again any day now."

In reality, UT chapters of major fraternities essentially act independently. they often do not recognize brothers from outside their own chapters and are not welcoming of non-UT brothers. Case in point: Texas Rho of SAE supposedly has a drawer full of SAE badges. They don't wear em. Texas FJI is also distant from the rest of FIJI.
If Omicron wants to stay independent of KA I don't see what the bg deal is. Besides KA nationals is going downhill.

Omicron probably won't survive independently, and one of the reasons the big ones can thrive with limited relationships with their nationals is because of alumni support, which Omicron has lost a lot of. Most SAEs I've met are pretty stoked on being SAEs, so I kind of doubt they do that. Plus SAE has probably some of the most non-intrusive and loyal national offices that exist, it's hard to imagine why they'd have a problem (not to mention they fit SAE's national stereotypes very closely). Fiji's distant relationship is well known, although they are actually members of Fiji's national organization despite what some people think. I heard they had a big enough sway nationally to convince Fiji's nationals to make their alcohol free housing rule conditional. That could just be a rumor though.

Sigep is crap nationally. Isn't even in the same class as SAE Sigma Chi or Kappa sig. Y'all belong with lambda chi and the other 20th century frats who grew exponentially by absorbing crap locals tx alpha being one of them (aka Sigma Eta Chi) in 1930. No history and little tradition.

Honorary initiation is one thing, but SPE takes it to another level by purposefully iniitiating men in the pesent day who are already successful and prominent. That's called padding ones resume. Yes, other frats have done the samein the past, but its frowned upon in the present. See dave thomas (wendy's founder) or that astronaut tx alpha initiated.

So Dave Thomas's bio lists him as a Sig Ep. I can't even find where he went to college. Did he even go?
