does it matter which sorority you’re in?
by: ?I know this is a question that will generate opinionated answers, but how does what sorority you’re in affect your college experience? are certain houses truly “better” than others? if so, how? will being in a “low tier” house really make others look down me?

Top houses (pkt) mix with the top frats, making it a better experience, on paper. More money is spent and the houses or venues you’ll party at will be cooler. trying your ass off for a spot in a top house really isn’t as pertinent as people think. college is what you make of it. I know plenty of friends in sprit groups, and they had such a great time this past year. one girl I know dropped from a sorority to be in a spirit group. Like i said before, t’s really what you make of it. Make an effort to talk to actives and ask about their experiences, see if their interests align with yours and try to piece together if you can see yourself having fun there.

All sororities are going to allow you to make great friends and have a social life. I personally think you will be happier where you are most comfortable whether it is a “top tier” or not. Example.....if you are from memorial/Highland Park etc social crowd you might be happeiest in PKT. If you were dance team/cheerleader/ cute/social you might be happiest in big six. But if (like me) you are more studious and really weren’t interested in the super social crowd in high school, you might not enjoy college with that type kid either. Why would you? Are you planning to become like them? Do you even want to? I am what I am and I do not enjoy that type of person as much. So I think I will get MORE from a group that isn’t like that.

What’ll truly matter five years from now will be the friendships you brought out of your experience in Greek life. You’re not gonna care whether you “mixed with the top frats” or were part of the most “exclusive” sororities. The people make the experience and what ultimately matters is going somewhere you like the people. Greek life is four years but the friendships are potentially forever.

I would certainly add AXO and possibly Aphi to the houses that cheer, cute, dance girls look at outside of Big 6
