summer rush

by:

Do the sororities communicate with each other to decide which PNMs each will target during the summer before rush? Like do they somewhat ‘claim them’ or do they target completely independent of who else the PNM is talking to?

Honestly, there are probably about 200 PNMs that everyone wants ahead of time and are competing for. Outside of that, it's the hunger games. If you're one of those 200 you wouldn't be on this site. Good luck.

There is no 'claiming' LOL that's what bid day is all about.

Uh, no. There's no "negotiating" going on behind the scenes where the chapters call dibs on certain pnm's. That's silly.

There's of course a group of top pnm's that almost every house wants because they're the total package. Chapters love to steal Big legacies, sitting sisters/cousins, etc - bragging rights!!

Most chapters do a good job of focusing on pnm's who are a good fit for that chapter - girls known from high school or camp, or girls they meet at orientation or other incoming freshman activities, and unknown girls who look like a good fit from recs/ social media/ etc. Some chapters focus more on looks/cheer types; others focus on grades/ campus involvement, etc. Chapters make goals for their pledge class and work hard to recruit girls who meet those goals, whether it's to get more girls from a certain geographic area or more athletes or artists & singers or girls who can help boost GPA, etc. Then rush week is about finding pnm's who fit those goals but also fit into the chapter, personality-wise.
