Of course not, why would it? If anything, it would help.

If you think your dorm will make a difference in what sorority you end up in, god help you

PKT are mainly in Hardin. The other sororities have a few girls there. However, being in SRD will NOT keep you out of any chapter. I personally think Hardin helps a little getting to know girls in PKT just because you are running with so many well connected girls that you naturally meet people. But, no, SRD will not hurt you.

Besides, you probably already know if you stand a shot with PKT and maybe Big Six in general.

Why do so many posts ask this?

if you are rushing as a sophomore it would help to live in Hardin as a freshman. If you are rushing as a freshman you already need to have connections before you move in.

Personally I would rather live in SRD unless all of my friends are in Hardin.

Living in SRD will not hurt you with big 6, many 'big 6' girls live there. Hardin and SRD are both great dorms that many girls who pledge sororities choose to live in. Personally, I like SRD-Hardin is pretty yucky, but it has the snob factor going for it, but so does SRD (I think).

Many moms want their daughters to live in Hardin, and that is why girls continue to live their-because it is prestigious (to moms). SRD is prettier and much better food!

Has nothing to do with “snob” factor. Moms want their daughters to live there bc they loved living there and know how special and fun the experience is...despite food etc. Same reason they want their daughters to go to the big camps.

I did not live in Hardin or SRD, but I had friends in both. My opinion, but the girls in SRD seem much more put together (as far as school work and studying) and nicer. However, there are nice girls in both dorms, but Hardin has some really, really wild girls who are not so nice, and I didn't see that in the SRD dorm. Just my opinion.

Definitely some trust fund babies in Hardin who are just at UT for the party......job after college optional. However, typically Hardin has highest dorm GPA so obviously some of them are serious about school.

Do not believe Hardin has highest dorm GPA

It had the highest GPA when I took the tour a couple of years ago. The old lady giving the tour acted like it usually does have highest GPA and said specific GPA's. Guess it could have changed, but It is really small and most of the girls in it are from very good public schools or private schools so they are well prepared. I think it probably is true.

@nah-not true-you must be a mom who wants her daughter to live there.

Just someone who had a great experience and know my mom wanted that for me. She is about as far from a snob as someone can be actually.

This is a little off topic, but I had a friend list her dorm on her sorority resume, this seemed tacky to me, but now I am wondering if I should have listed my dorm. Is it common for girls in SRD and Hardin to put their dorm on sorority resume?

It is too late so doesn’t matter. Personally I think putting Hardin might be a good idea for girls outside of huge Hardin feeder schools....Highland Park, Memorial etc....just so alum writing RIF knows

I have not signed up with Panhellenic and I know they ask for the resume, so maybe I will update it. Not sure though.

I wouldn't worry about it, where you live is not going to get you into a sorority.
