rush
by: rushingDo i have a chance of getting in a sorority at UT if i’m black? I come from a upper middle class neighborhood, good grades, fairly good looking. I heard it was hard if you don’t have any connections though. Would it just be a waste of time
#4by: the real bs
At first glance, most UT sororities look overwhelming white and relatively wealthy.
That is true for the most part but mainly due to a lack of diversity of girls who chose to go through formal recruitment. I have NEVER heard anyone being cut because of their race or socioeconomic background. I have never seen or heard anything from any of my friends or anyone I’ve ever met in UT sororities to suggest that you would be cut on your race.
However, rush will be very competitive because of your lack of connections. That doesn’t mean you can’t find your home here at UT in Greek life but go in with an open mind and embrace the process!

This is great advice above. Make sure that you’re OK with mostly white friend groups and that you fit in socially but yes, you can get a bid. be bold enough to go through rush and be open to all chapters.
