am i screwed?
by: jeterhatesthemarlinsHi, I plan on rushing this fall. I am majoring in Business Honors, have no family in frats, and apparently I am not from a good feeder high school in Texas. I have good scores and extra circulars along with a full ride (merit only) to UT I was able to put on the IFC website/form. If only one (low middle tier) frat has contacted me so far, is that as good as it's gonna get?

You might need to wait until you know some people and rush sophomore year, or join one of the 'less' known fraternities-as it is about who you know. Almost all the Greek org. are good, so not joining a 'top' one is less important than finding a group of people that you like. Is anyone from your high school in a fraternity?

A good start is contacting anyone that you know from HS who has connections here, just tell them you're interested in rushing. If you come from a school w no connections at all like me, you can also search for the UT frat's website your'e planning on rushing. Some of them have a recruitment page where you can sign up to rush them. If you're a fun dude that isn't socially retarded you'll get at least get a bid to somewhere decent.

Over the past 2 years I know for sure no one has joined at UT. Know someone from four years ago but never talked/ knew him bc of grade difference.
