pkt...the female omicron

by:

PKT really needs to pull an Omicron because they won't even associate with other PKT chapters. Don't even think of affiliating if you transfer here. If you're a legacy, forget it unless you're a UT PKT legacy.

This is absolutely not true. A friend of mine from San Antonio pledged KKG at A&M and affiliated at Texas, and she felt very welcome and made great friends.

that's because KKG is good at A&M. Theta and PiPhi aren't and those groups are the ones that won't affiliate A&M girls

Pi Phi is good at A&M but not snooty like at UT.

Theta is bottom tier and PiPhi is headed that way. ...I can see how they wouldn't fit in at the UT chapters

Listen to yourselves. Elitist is defined in this thread. "building the chapter they want" "choosing the girls they want" As if what THEY want is all that matters. This is the University of Texas, not the center of the universe. These people are in for a rude awakening when they finally grow up. If they ever grow up.

To "Wow" -- so you're saying it's Elitist to choose your friends? And what is wrong with building the chapter you want? If the transfer doesn't fit, she doesn't fit. There are plenty of other organizations at UT that will accept her. She should have gotten into UT in the first place instead of going to a sub par school to make a good GPA to transfer. Sorry, but I side with the chapters that aren't door mats and can make their own decisions.

Wow is right. But you will never understand because elitists simply don't understand the people beneath them. So what is being said is the National sororities have national values that define their chapters and for most sisterhood and compassion lead the pack. Girls transfer to UT for many reasons. Many were even accepted the first time around, yet for personal reasons (I know a girl that is coming to UT this year from Vandy because her mom has cancer and she wants to be closer....Lord...UT was her "safe" school)

@@dumb: you hit the nail on the head. Just b/c someone is a transfer student, that does NOT mean they went to another school to be able to get into UT w/ a higher GPA. The girl who transferred b/c her mom had cancer is a perfect example. I transferred b/c my mom had a heart attack and felt that I needed to be close to home; I was sad to leave my other school, but it would have been worse to be across the country w/ my mom in the CCU. I hope that many factors are taken into consideration by both transfers and UT chapters when affiliation is being considered.

I was a triple legacy in a certain PKT chapter and i joined it at a school in the north (a school with one of the most competitive rush systems mind you) because of that. Its not top (by no means lower either) but I joined because I was a legacy. So you're basically saying if I were to go to UT they wouldn't accept me because 1)I'm not a UT specific legacy (but I am a legacy from SMU) and 2) I'm not currently in a "top chapter"

That is exactly what is being said. The UT PKT chapter more than likely would not accept you for affiliation.

There rent any "most competitive rush systems" in the north.

It depends on the girl, who you know already in the chapter and where you're coming from. People want to make it all cut and dried but it isn't. Each girl is an individual case.

Ut is not the only school were sororites and fraternities will not automatically accept transfers from other schools. In fact all the top groups are like this at the respectable greek schools.

And great sisters from strong chapters will be affiliated. It just depends on who she is.

You can still wear your letters wherever and whenever you want if you're an initiated member. They might not affiliate you but people will still associate them with the UT chapter if they're wearing their letters around campus. Nothing they can do about that.

Well that's all good to know. I wasn't planning on transferring any time soon, just thought that was an interesting view point of those houses. But I'm curious, what is ut rush based off of? Legacy, letters of rec, high school, and family name don't mean anything at my school, purely looks and personality, what would it take to be considered, for example, suitable for a big 6 house? Or what differentiates the middle houses?

Its strange here, the middle houses, what someone on here called core 4 (dg, axo, adpi, aphi) actually have higher quality girls as far as grades, resume, personality and looks. The top six (pkt, chio, ddd, zta) require connections/legacy status and wealth/zipcode. Not that these girls aren't quality too because its so hard just to get into UT, they just have enough legacies/good friends of actives going through to fill several pledge classes.
