sophomore rush?

I had planned on going to UT and rushing up until a month ago that some serious family issues came upon me which is forcing me to move from my Texas City to San Diego and attend juco for a year. After that, I plan on attending UT as originally planned and go trough recruitment. But I’m wondering how hard is it gonna be to get a bid as a sophomore transfer? One of my best friends from my class is rushing and a good friend a grade above me is in one too so could that increase my chances? Or will it all be pointless?
