Greek is very big at these midwestern schools. Just different sororities are tops. Not typical southern ones. I have friends who go to some of these schools and they have huge chapters. The south isn't the end all have all of Greek life. Pacific Northwest....not too Greek. Ivy League...hardly any. But south, midwest and west (Cali,AZ) huge!

The Northeast is big on Greek life in places like Pennsylvania, and schools like Yale and Dartmouth have legendary Greek systems.

I didn't mention Northeast, but you are correct. True about Dartmouth...don't know about Yale, but Harvard, Brown, and others not big on Greek. Other social clubs outrank and some have no formally recognized Greek organizations. I was just pointing out that Greek isn't just big in the South, it is big in many areas. Just different groups are popular. DG and Aphi are HUGE in many of the same areas, as well as Gamma Phi and even AGD and SK. You just can't stereotype sororities and fraternities by what we see here.

say AGD and SK are huge in any particular region, but they definitely have strong chapters randomly assorted. I mentioned the Northeast since you started talking about the Ivy League. As for Yale, they don't have a ton of chapters, but both Bushes were Yale DKE's among tons of other notable alumni, and they're probably one of the oldest Greek schools in the nation. Cornell and UPenn are both respectable Greek schools too, and Dartmouth is legendary and Animal House was inspired by the writer's experiences there. Harvard and Princeton don't recognize their Greek systems, and Brown's is a total joke and had several chapters break off to become coed. Midwest is big on Greek life, but it's kind of different and watered down at a lot of the schools, and most of the Big 10 schools have about 100 GLOs it seems. Of the Big 10 schools, Indiana seems the closest to a Southern Greek system. Cali/western schools in places like Arizona seem to be more bro/skaterish, but they do seem more fun than most of the Midwestern schools.

The SEC is the best Greek conference, I will admit, but the ACC and Big 12 are very solid (mostly) Southern ones too. Out of the Big 10 I'd say Indiana is where it's at though.
